The Kansas City Addy Awards is one of the most fiercely contested regionals in the nation. When the American Advertising Federation of Kansas City needed a partner to deliver a website that would capture the spirit of the 2009 theme, A Space Addysy, there was really only one choice. We chose to film an actual astronaut in space for a truly authentic look and feel. Ok, NASA schedules and a slight budgetary constraint kept us from true orbit, but if you check the site out, you would never know.
Starting with the raw photography, we deftly layered Photoshop and Flash AS3 to produce a spaceman orbiting a nebula of advertising spectacle. The drift and colors garnered considerable attention. We took Addy contestants from announcement, through the registration countdown to the evening of the ceremony itself. Then we posted winners and pictures of the event. Guess what? We had collaborated on seven and created two winners.
If you ask around our creative area, this is still one of the favorites.
